Mission Statement:

To form a network of families touched by ASD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, for support, education, and to promote awareness and understanding.

Objectives:

• Raise awareness and promote understanding          

                o  Have an information booth at the Families with ASD Autism Expo                         
                o  Public awareness through accessories (t-shirts, magnets, etc.)
                o  Group outings
                o  Fundraising events

• Organize and share resources

                o  Host the Annual Families with ASD Autism Expo
                o  Library of books, tapes, videos, etc.
                o  Resource guide "Autism Yellow Pages"
                o  Web-site: www.familieswithasd.org
                        o  Yahoo-Group- "Familieswithasd".
                        o Calendar of Events: On-line Calendar updated weekly for families to use to find Autism/Disability Related Events.

• Help families touched by ASD

                o  Family-friendly meetings
                o  Counseling
                o  Guest speakers
                o  Life-skill programs
                o  Yahoo-Group- Members of the "Familieswithasd  Yahoo group have a chance to talk & network with other families with                      children/adults on the spectrum, download and post useful information, and share and use useful autism links
                       
        

• Facilitate change and continuous improvement in our schools

                o  Provide advocates for IEP meetings
                o  Educate parents on Federal/State laws
                o  Consult schools on strategies to use (sensory integration, communication devices, learning styles, motor skills, etc.)

          Families with ASD has a dream for the near future: To form our own school, the Luke Gregory Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders.
