Facial Expressions and Body Language

Adults with Aspergers and Families with ASD are invited to take part in a FREE interactive group that studies Human Facial Expressions of Emotion and Body Language.

The Amygdala, an area of the human brain that recognizes the facial expressions of emotion of people, is often lacking in activation for those with ASD. This means that by varying degrees those with ASD cannot recognize the emotions displayed by other people, leading to the impaired social cognition which is a core feature of autism.

However, we can learn the emotions on people's faces "one brick at a time", so to speak, by studying the facial muscles that are used when people feel emotion.

The next meeting will be Tuesday September 7th at 7pm. If you plan to attend please RSVP at 513-444-4979 or helpingfamilieswithautism@yahoo.com . Check out the flyer for more details.
